For more than 15 years, Totem has been helping organizations gain greater visibility into their security operations through professional monitoring and advanced video technology.
What began in 2005 as a company focused on the distribution and installation of security cameras has evolved into a sophisticated monitoring operation overseeing more than 10,000 security cameras.
Today, Totem combines experienced monitoring professionals, intelligent video technology, centralized event management, and continuously evolving security solutions to help organizations identify what matters, reduce false alarms, and respond to security events more effectively.
Monitoring thousands of cameras requires more than technology. It requires the infrastructure, processes, and people capable of managing a high volume of security information while maintaining focus on the events that require attention.
Totem’s Monitoring Center has grown significantly since its early days.
In 2018, Totem was monitoring approximately 3,200 security cameras, making its Monitoring Center the largest in the country at the time. By 2023, that number had grown to more than 10,000 cameras monitored through our center.
That growth reflects Totem’s continued investment in monitoring technology, infrastructure, and operational capabilities.
Whether monitoring a single location or a large network of properties, Totem provides centralized visibility designed to help organizations maintain awareness across their security environments.
Effective video monitoring isn’t simply about having someone watch a screen.
It’s about identifying meaningful activity, filtering out unnecessary alerts, prioritizing events, and giving monitoring professionals the information they need to make informed decisions.
Totem has consistently invested in technology that makes monitoring more intelligent and efficient.
Our monitoring capabilities have incorporated advanced video analytics, artificial intelligence, video content analysis, and event-management platforms to help operators focus their attention where it matters.
The result is a monitoring operation built around technology and human oversight working together.
Totem’s monitoring capabilities have developed alongside advances in security technology.
When organizations choose a monitoring provider, they are placing more than cameras and alarms in someone else’s hands.
They are trusting that provider with sensitive security information, operational data, and critical events.
That’s why Totem places a strong emphasis on the security and accountability of its own operations. Totem is BASC certified and a member of the Monitoring Association (TMA), demonstrating its commitment to recognized security practices and continued engagement with the professional monitoring community.
Totem is also currently working toward ISO 27001 certification, further strengthening its approach to information security management and the protection of the systems and information supporting its monitoring operations.
For Totem, security doesn’t stop at the camera.
It extends to the people, technology, processes, and information behind the monitoring operation.
Technology provides the eyes.
Intelligent analytics help determine what deserves attention. Experienced monitoring professionals provide the human oversight needed to assess security events and take appropriate action.
Together, these elements create a monitoring operation designed to turn thousands of streams of security information into something far more useful: awareness.
Because the value of video isn’t simply being able to see what happened.
It’s the ability to identify what is happening, understand why it matters, and respond accordingly.
Security environments continue to become more connected and more complex. Organizations may have hundreds or thousands of cameras spread across multiple locations, generating an enormous amount of video and security data.
Totem’s monitoring infrastructure helps organizations manage that complexity through centralized monitoring, intelligent video technology, and experienced operators.
From individual properties to large, geographically distributed environments, Totem provides the monitoring capabilities organizations need to maintain greater visibility without having to manage every security event themselves.
More cameras. More information. More potential alerts.
Totem’s job is to help make sense of it.
At Totem, monitoring is about more than watching video.
It’s about creating greater awareness, helping organizations identify meaningful security events, and providing the technology and human oversight necessary to manage them effectively.
For more than 15 years, Totem has continued to evolve its Monitoring Center, expand its capabilities, and invest in technologies that make security monitoring smarter.
Today, more than 10,000 cameras are monitored through Totem’s operation.
And we’re continuing to build on that foundation.
